STEP #1 : APPLY THE CLEANER A. Attach the scrub pad to the wood applicator block by loosening the wingnuts of the applicator, then wrapping the pad in between the two wooden panels.Attach the applicator block to a threaded broomhandle. IMPORTANT: Scrub the entire surface with firm pressure to ensure maximum adhesion of the Step 3 Floor Finish. Apply the No Sanding Refinishing Prep on one four-foot to eight-foot square area at a time with the scrub pad attached to the applicator head. You may work on larger areas as long as you make sure you don’t allow surface to dry before proceeding to Step C. Refill paint tray with more No Sanding Refinishing Prep as needed. |
STEP #2 : RINSE FLOOR The second step thoroughly removes any residual No Sanding Refinishing Prep solution from the floor and prepares the surface for the application of the final protective coat in Step 3. A. In a clean bucket, mix 1/2-1 oz ounce of liquid soap with each gallon of water.
STEP #3 : APPLY THE POLYURETHANE CLEAR FLOOR FINISH A. Thoroughly stir Clear Floor Finish slowly.

Question: WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DRY TIMES? |
Answer: Dry times can be slowed by increasing the humidity in the room. Furniture can be placed on floors finished with Clear Floor Finish after three days. However, wait until the finish has completely cured before replacing heavy furniture. It takes about 7 days for Clear Floor Finish to completely cure. Do not put rugs with vinyl backing on the floor for 14 days. |
Question: CAN CLEAR FINISH BE APPLIED IN COLD TEMPERATURES? |
Answer: A clear finish shouldn’t be applied in temperatures below 55°F. The finish won’t “cure” properly in too cold a temperature. CAUTION: Never use a space heater to warm up the area as the solvents in the finish may ignite. |
Question: HOW CAN I AVOID APPEARANCE PROBLEMS? |
Answer: Avoiding Bubbling-- There are two primary reasons that bubbles may appear in the finish. Avoiding Milky Appearance-- There are three primary reasons that a finish develops a milky appearance.
Question: CAN I USE ANY REMAINING CLEAR FLOOR FINISH DIRECTLY ON ANY OTHER PROJECTS OF BARE WOOD?
Answer: Yes, you can use any remaining Clear Floor Finish on bare wood without using the No Sanding Refinishing Prep formula, providing that the bare wood is properly sanded.
Question: WHAT ARE SOME GUIDELINES FOR MAINTAINING THE FLOORS?
Answer: Let the finish cure 7 to 10 days before washing the floor. Afterwards, vacuum or mop regularly. Clean with clear, warm water only - never use harsh chemicals. Wipe with a dry cloth. For difficult stains, try mild dish detergent in water. For dark scuff marks, try a soft pencil eraser. Do not allow water to pool or stand on the floor. It’s not recommended that wax be applied to the Clear Floor Finish. Wax will adhere and increase the sheen of the floors, however it will present future problems when the floor is refinished because the wax coat will have to be completely removed. Do not use Pine-Sol® or Spic’n’Span® or other abrasive, ammonia, or oil based cleaners to clean Clear Floor Finish top coat. These products will penetrate into the finish, producing a dull haze. Clean with plain water, or mild dish soap.
Question: CAN POLYURETHANE FLOOR FINISHES BE SAFELY MOPPED WITH WATER?
Answer: While polyurethane is water resistant, it is NOT waterproof! Do not use excessive amounts of water when cleaning polyurethane finished wood floors. If using only water to clean your floors, use light amounts and do not allow the water to pool or stand on the floor. Excessive water can still penetrate the finish and cause warping.
Question: TO MAINTAIN MY FLOORS, IS SWEEPING ALL THE CARE MY FLOORS NEED?
Answer: While sweeping does help reduce the grit and surface debris that can cause scratching, dirt and dust will eventually become ground into the surface and dull the finish.
Question: CAN I JUST USE A SOLUTION OF WATER AND VINEGAR TO CLEAN MY WOOD FLOORS?
Answer: While a vinegar and water solution may do a good job in cleaning your floors, the strong acids in vinegar can erode the glossy finish on the wood floor and leave a dull appearance.
