What homes does this law apply to?
All new and existing homes and rental units that contain or are within a structure containing an attached garage or a CO source (See below for sources of CO).
What types of Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms are required?
Alarms must be listed by Underwriters Laboratories as complying with ANSI/UL 2034, 2075 or any other nationally recognized testing laboratory. All First Alert CO alarms comply with the new law.
Where do I install my CO alarms?
Placement of alarms must be located within each bedroom or within 15 feet outside each bedroom door. Bedrooms on separate floors in a structure containing two or more stories require separate CO alarms.
What is the effective date of this law?
On April 1, 2011, state law will take effect
