Rubberific Mulch Landscape Instructions

  • Specification 1

    • Rubberific Mulch Landscape Instructions

  • Specification 2

    • 1

    • Install Rubberific Mulch over a permeable weed fabric (provided). Using a weed fabric will increase coverage per bag/box and decrease the risk of weeds. Also, using a felt type weed fabric will help keep Rubberific Mulch in place.

  • Specification 3

    • 2

    • Make sure the ground surface is a compacted material, free of debris and loose objects. Rubberific Mulch will look its best when not mixed in with other debris. It is critical to remove all old mulch from any area where Rubberific Mulch will be installed.

  • Specification 4

    • 3

    • When installing Rubberific in mulch/plant beds, it is recommended that the beds have a border to help contain the Rubberific. The border can either be a raised border such as a poured concrete/brick border, or a border made with an edging shovel such as a 2” deep trench around the bed.

  • Specification 5

    • 4

    • When cutting grass around Rubberific Mulch beds, use caution to avoid blowing grass clippings into beds.

  • Specification 6

    • 5

    • To clear leaves and other debris off the top of Rubberific Mulch, use a blower on a low setting. Since Rubberific Mulch is heavier than grass clippings and leaves, Rubberific Mulch will stay in place while the debris is blown away. Use caution to not over blow the beds.

      • 6” NuScape and Re-Play will protect up to a 16’ fall
  • Specification 3

    • 2

    • The ground where the playground will be installed should either be in a location that will not hold water, or have slight grade to allow for proper drainage. In areas where drainage could be an issue; it is recommended to install a drain tile system, with a 3” base of pea gravel or rock to allow for proper drainage.

  • Specification 4

    • 3

    • Make sure the ground surface is a compacted material, free of debris and loose objects.

  • Specification 5

    • 4

    • Heavy duty weed fabric should be installed under the mulch to separate it from what lies beneath. Depending on the size of the playground, it is recommended to use large rolls of weed fabric (12’ width rolls) to minimize the number seams.

  • Specification 6

    • 5

    • Use 10” landscape stakes to stake down weed fabric seams and corners. Make sure the stakes are completely hammered down.

  • Specification 7

    • 6

    • A border is recommended to enclose the playground to contain the mulch. It is recommended to have a few inches between the top of the border and the top of the mulch to help contain the product during play.
