    Step 1: Measure the Square Footage

  • Step 2: Measure the Window Opening

    Measure the height and width of the window opening. Make sure that your window opening will accommodate the air conditioner that you have selected.

  • Step 3: Determine Electrical Requirements

    Determine the type of outlet you have in the room.  Use the images to the right for reference.  Make sure the plug type for the unit that you select corresponds to the type of outlet you have in your home. 

  • Step 4: Choose the Correct BTU

     Use the square footage measurements that you calculated in Step 1 to choose the correct BTU for your room. Refer to the chart on the right.

    Also consider these tips to select the correct BTUs for your room:

    You may want to step up to the next BTU size if you are using the unit in great rooms, rooms that receive southern or western sun exposure or rooms with poor insulation. In this case, model LRA157MT1 (15,100 BTUs) would be an option.

    However, if the BTUs are too high for the size of your room the unit will not be able to effectively or efficiently cool the room. Consider the smaller unit in this case, model LRA107BU1 (10,000 BTUs).
