GE Personal Security Portable Alarm Kit Instructions

  • GE Personal Security Window or Door Alarm
  • Parts Check List

    Low Battery Indicator

The alarm has a low battery indicator light. Push the ‘Battery Test’ button located inside the battery compartment. If the green light illuminates when the button is pressed, the batteries are still good. If the light fails to illuminate, replace all batteries.

  • Installing Batteries
  • Installation

NOTE: The magnet must be placed on the right side of the alarm. The arrows on the alarm and the magnet must align.

    1. Locate a position on the window or door to be protected that allows easy access to the OFF/CHIME/ALARM switch. Make sure switch is in OFF position. Make sure the surface you are mounting to is clean and dry. For best results, clean the mounting surface with a mixture of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water.

  • Installation

    2. Peel the protective covering from one side of the double-sided tape and then apply to the back of the alarm. Remove protective covering from the back side of the doublesided tape and lightly mount the alarm or the magnet on the part of the entry that opens (i.e. the window or door itself).

    3. Mount the other piece of the unit on the stationary part of the entry way (i.e. the window or door frame). Ensure that when the door or window is closed, the gap between the two pieces of the alarm unit is less than 1/2” (preferably less).

    4. Once correct placement is established, apply pressure to secure double-sided tape.

  • Unpacking your Keychain Alarm

Before attempting to use your Keychain Alarm, remove the battery isolation tape by pulling the plastic tab located on the back of the unit.

  • Installing Batteries

The Keychain Alarm requires (4) 392A batteries (included), or you may alternately use (4) LR41 batteries. Test the batteries by pressing the push-button on the face of the unit; if the light begins to flash, you need to replace the batteries. Average battery life for typical usage is up to one year.

    1. Make sure lanyard is connected when replacing batteries. Access the battery compartment by removing the screw on the back of the unit. Carefully separate the top half from the bottom half near the lower corners.

    2. Insert (4) 392A button batteries noting polarity.

    3. Replace halves and secure screw.

  • Operation of Alarm

    1. To activate siren, hold alarm in one hand and pull on lanyard with the other, pulling metal pin out of alarm body.

    2. To stop the siren, insert the metal pin back into the alarm body.

  • Operation of Key Light

    1. Press and hold push button on left side of unit. Red light will illuminate.

    2. When batteries are low, the key light will flash when button is pressed. Replace batteries when this occurs. Alarm will only operate for a brief time once batteries reach this level.

  • Door Stop Alarm
  • Low Battery Indicatior

The door stop alarm has a low battery indicator light. If the batteries need to be replaced, the low battery indicator will illuminate. Average battery life for typical usage is up to one year.

  • Installing Batteries

The door stop alarm requires one 9V battery.

    1. Slide On/Off switch to the ‘OFF’ position to prevent unintentional triggering.

    2. Remove screw on the bottom of the door stop and lift off battery compartment cover.

    3. Fit a 9V battery according to the diagram, making sure the terminal polarities are correct.

    4. Replace cover being careful not to pinch the battery wires and secure screw.

    IMPORTANT:
Remove batteries before storing the Alarm for extended periods. Batteries corrode over time and may cause permanent damage to the unit. Depleted batteries should be removed from the unit and disposed of properly.

  • Testing the Alarm
  • Installation

Insert door wedge at the base of the door as shown in the diagram, with the pointed edge under the door gap. The alarm is properly installed if the metal contact plate is depressed and the alarm sounds when the door is opened. Make sure the non-skid pads on the bottom of the alarm are in firm contact with the floor.
